Come join our program for a drop-in paddle. We will be bringing canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards to the Trinity River and will be setting up right beside Woodshed. You can drop by anytime between 12pm and 4pm and use whichever boat you would like. We can provide any instruction you may need and help you get set up on the water. You can paddle for as long as you want in this time frame and can explore in whichever direction you choose. This trip is perfect for anyone interested in getting off campus and exploring a new part of Fort Worth, or for anyone who is interested in renting a boat but has no way of getting it to the water.
Regular Registration: $10 with TCU ID
Register in-person at the Campus Rec Front Office or online @ mycampusrec.tcu.edu
There will be no Pre-Trip meeting scheduled for this trip although you should receive an email regarding details of the trip from your trip leader.
Come and go anytime from 12am – 4pm. Explore the Trinity at your leisure.
Weather dependent. Dress for the current conditions. Please wear clothes that you can get wet as well as water shoes that are secure (not flip flops). Make sure to bring bug spray, sunscreen, and water!
We will be giving everyone on the trip a tutorial on how to paddle so prior knowledge is not necessary.
TRIP RATING 1 out of 3 – This is a beginner paddle trip.
There are numerous risks and hazards associated with the Trinity River. Not dressing appropriately can result in heat or cold illnesses (Hyperthermia or Hypothermia). Not drinking enough water results in dehydration and not being in adequate physical condition can result in sore muscles. Trip members must make a conscious effort to be safe. One person’s disdain for safety will always result in more hardship for the group. If we do have an accident or injury that requires medical attention beyond the scope of our leader’s experience, the trip is immediately over without refund. Our leaders are trained to administer first aid in an outdoor environment; however, while they may be able to treat injuries they cannot always prevent them. We will provide a Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) for everyone. Staff will be equipped with a First Aid Kit. Hazards include debris in the river as well as misuse of gear. Prior knowledge is not a requirement but please be ready to learn about safety on the water.
. This is a front-country trip and standard amenities will be provided except for the times we are on the river.
The trip leaders will research the weather conditions in advance to assess the situation. The Trip will be cancelled if the weather is dangerous. If you do not receive an email about this, then please be prepared to be out in the weather. Please follow the weather and use your best judgement as well as the packing list to determine what you will personally need to stay warm and dry during the entirety of this trip. Layers are recommended for cold weather and failure to bring proper attire will be detrimental to your experience.
