Job Title: Member Services
Description:
The Member Services position shall be expected to possess knowledge of the Department of Campus Recreation 
policies and procedures. Member Services is to provide customer service to any participant so that he/she may have the utmost quality experience while using the Recreation Center. Member Services must have the ability to manage multiple tasks as well as hold a vast array of knowledge about the Department of Campus Recreation programs and activities.

Requirements:
Full/part time student at Texas Christian University. Be punctual, dependable, and trustworthy. Must 
be willing and able to enforce all policies of the Department of Campus Recreation. Hold a vast array of knowledge regarding Campus Recreation programs and activities. Attend all facility staff meetings throughout the year.


Job Title: Fitness Facility Staff

Description:
This position falls under the fitness program within the Department of Campus
Recreation. The overall focus of this position is to supervise the activities in the weight room & cardio bridge as well as conduct programs that occur within this area, which includes spotting patrons, providing exercise guidance, and enforcing policies. 

Requirements:
Full/part time student at Texas Christian University. Desire to learn about health/fitness related issues. 
Ability to lift a minimum of 45 lbs. Minimum of 9 hours per week and maximum of 20 hours per week.


Job Title: Office Assistant – Front Office
Description:
Exemplify professional attitude with regard to public relations, ensuring the patrons are greeted and 
welcomed to the center and given correct information. Prepare basic correspondence. Process financial transactions for various programs. Set up appointments for massages, personal training and swim lessons. Enter data into and retrieve data from standard business software, database and online systems. Post a variety of information on forms, records, reports and files. Maintain accurate records of transactions processed.

Requirements:
Full/part time student at Texas Christian University. Be punctual, dependable, and trustworthy. Must 
be willing and able to enforce all policies of the Department of Campus Recreation. Hold a vast array of knowledge regarding Campus Recreation programs and activities. Attend all facility staff meetings throughout the year. Communicate clearly and effectively in English in person and over the telephone and in written correspondence.


Job Title: Lifeguard
Description:
The aquatic facilities are for recreational swimming & play, lap swimming, and other special programs 
throughout the year. Lifeguards are employed to supervise the aquatic area while facilities are in use. In addition, lifeguards are employed to perform any other assigned duties when not actively serving in the role as a lifeguard.

Requirements:
Preference will be given to previous employees in good standing with the department. One year 
experience as a lifeguard is preferred. Current certification in Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, and CPRPR is required. Upon being hired, certification in the department’s Blood Born Pathogens and other training programs is also required. Must complete new Lifeguard checklist.


Job Title: Intramural Official
Description:
Every official will be trained in all officiated sports offered by Campus Recreation. Their role is to 
control games with officiating skills learned.

Requirements:
Full/part time student at Texas Christian University. Staff members must be punctual, dependable, 
and trustworthy, as well as attend all staff meetings throughout the year. Applicants must be available to work nights and weekends, commit to work at least 2 shifts a week, and possess the physical ability to keep up with the sports being officiated.


Job Title: Group Fitness Instructor
Description:
The group exercise instructor is responsible for providing a safe, motivating class to the participants. 
An instructor should organize his or her own routines within the given guidelines provided in the Safety section.

Requirements:
CPR certification and Instructor Certifications are required to teach group fitness at TCU. An instructor must obtain this within the
first 30 days of employment. Certification courses are provided on a regular basis through Campus Recreation, with a minimal cost to cover material only. Instructors are also required to attend meetings, held at the Assistant Director’s discretion. There may be an exception made for those who have a serious conflict. The exceptions must be approved through the Assistant Director prior to the meeting time. Instructors will be compensated for any time spent in mandatory training at a standard meeting wage different from group fitness instruction wage. An orientation session will be held yearly. All instructors are required to attend. The instructor will be compensated for their time at the standard meeting rate.


Job Title: Personal Trainer
Description:
Personal Trainers are responsible for marketing themselves. Campus Recreation will advertise and 
promote the personal training program, but participants are free to choose their personal trainer.

Requirements:
Personal trainers must be currently certified by one or more of the following:

  • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ASCM)

Another certification may be accepted at the discretion of the Assistant Director. A degree in the field of Exercise Science or related discipline with personal training experience will also be accepted in lieu of certification for Level I trainer. CPR certification is required (should be required to hold a personal training certification). All trainers are expected to operate under the standards set within their certification for prescribing exercise for individuals. This will include modifying exercises for special needs clients. Because of the limit on the number of personal trainers being hired, each trainer is required to make themselves available to train a minimum of 10 hours per week. Trainers are also expected to commit at least six months personal training to TCU Campus Recreation.


Job Title: Outdoor Center Staff
Description:
Outdoor Center Staff supervise the daily activities at the climbing wall to provide a safe and
friendly climbing environment for patrons to enjoy the benefits of indoor rock climbing. They are also responsible for renting out equipment.

Requirements:
Current TCU student. Be safety-oriented, punctual, dependable, trustworthy and committed to 
providing excellent service. Ability to pay attention to details and work in a team environment. Myst pass belay certification exam within 30 days of hire. 

Preferred:
Have a solid knowledge of indoor rock climbing including: climbing technique, belaying 
technique, routes and rating systems, rock climbing safety equipment. Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet


Job Title: Adventure Trip Program Staff
Description:
Adventure Trip Program Staff members take students, faculty, staff and sponsored guests on exciting adventure
trips into the great outdoors! These trips can range from a few hours here in town to multi-day excursions in remote wilderness areas. 

Requirements:
Current TCU student. All members of the leadership team must have the desire to have fun, learn new 
skills, and teach people new things. Must be comfortable camping and traveling in remote outdoor settings and various environments including, but not limited to: rivers, lakes, oceans, mountains, deserts, cliffs, caves, canyons, forests and snow. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and/or over school holiday breaks

Preferred:
Have general knowledge of outdoor recreation equipment 
including: tents, gas stoves/lanterns, sleeping bags, backpacks, bikes, canoes, kayaks, rock climbing and related accessories. Previous leadership experience in an outdoor setting (summer camp, NOLS, Outward Bound, etc).


Job Title: Graphic Design Assistant
Description:
Prepare brochures, flyers, newsletters and other print, online and digital signage media for the promotion of Campus Recreation programs, services and activities. Preparation of internal and external E-newsletters, PowerPoint presentations and videos for departmental promotion, employee training and information sharing.

Requirements:
Competency in use of Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Must have taken and passed ARGD 20323 Typography
Submit Portfolio URL

Preferred:
Experience in iMovie or Adobe Premiere/After Effects.
Pursuit of a degree in Graphic Design or Ad/PR.

 


Job Title: Sport Club Supervisor
Description:
A Sport Club Supervisor is directly responsible for the overseeing of the TCU Sport Clubs. Participate 
in decision-making in the best interest of Campus Recreation and the University Recreation Center. Exemplify professional attitude when dealing with Sport Club participants or spectators at practices or games. Supervisors are responsible for understanding/managing the paperwork required for all sport clubs to stay active with Student Organizations. Supervisors will visit practices throughout the week and attend scheduled games throughout the week and weekends. Supervisors will conduct Safety checks at practices and games. Control all aspects of practices and home games. This includes actions by participants and spectators.

Requirements:
Be punctual, dependable, and trustworthy. Must be willing and able to enforce all policies of the 
Department of Campus Recreation. Hold a vast array of knowledge regarding Campus Recreation programs and activities. Attend all weekly and monthly staff meetings throughout the year. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Requirement First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
