Intramural Sports October in Review

The last few weeks of intramural sports have been quite eventful! We’ve had the racquetball tournament on October 17th and last weekend had two video game tournaments, NBA 2K16 and FIFA 16. We’re also continuously bettering ourselves as flag football referees as that sport moves into playoffs, and we’re only just beginning indoor soccer and volleyball. As Drake would say – What A Time To Be Alive.

RACQUETBALL:

We had twenty total participants sign up for the one-day racquetball tournament, and the day was full of intense competition. It was an all-Alpha Chi Omega final on the women’s side, as Jaclyn Mazzio defeated Charlotte Holt to take home first place. In the men’s division, Army ROTC member Tyler Styles took down Jim Brazeal of Pi Kappa Phi in the final match.

NBA 2K16 AND FIFA 16:

On a rainy October weekend, 38 people signed up to play in the video game tournaments held in the Rec Center basement. 2K was a fierce competition, but Sigma Nu’s Mitchell Davis rode a hot streak to beat Garrett Podell by mercy rule in the final match.

The FIFA tournament final was an all-Bayern Munich final, as both Timothy Swan and Pi Kappa Phi’s Reed Richards used the German team to dominate the competition. In the end, Swan took home first place and a copy of the game in a 3-0 win over Richards.

Check back in for more updates soon, as the team tennis championships will be held next Monday, November 2, and flag football championships will be on Thursday, November 5. It’s a great day to be a Horned Frog, and a great day to be in intramural sports!
